ETSA Utilities is the only electricity distribution network in South Australia, serving customers in the fourth-largest electricity market in Australia. In 1999, ETSA made the controversial decision to privatise their electricity distribution in South Australia.
The ETSA Utilities distribution network stretches across South Australia, managing and maintaining over 200,000 kilometres of power lines, as well as hundreds of electricity substations.
ETSA provides the following services to South Australia:
- Delivering electricity from the high voltage network through poles and wires to the property or business
- Installing, maintaining and reading meters
- Providing an emergency response in the event of blackouts
- Repairing street lighting.
Retailers are responsible for managing the accounts, including all billing and service enquiries, and for organising connections and disconnections.
In addition to providing electricity distribution, ETSA Utilities offers electrical infrastructure project management, construction and maintenance services for businesses and government organizations.
