United Energy is one of five electricity distributors in Victoria that delivers electricity to more than 600,000 customers in the southeast suburbs of Melbourne, as well as the Mornington Peninsula. The United Energy distribution network encompasses 12,600 km in an area of 1450 km.
The majority of individuals and businesses in Australia today can choose their own electricity retailer. Electricity network service providers in a specific region still must observe state and national codes and licenses to provide a safe electricity supply. All electricity operation in Australia is governed by the National Electricity Law, providing customers with two basic options for their electricity supply:
- A Connection Agreement with an electricity supplier.
- A Retail Agreement with an electricity retailer.
Since the customer now has the power of choice, it has created competition in the electricity industry. United Energy has made it their goal to focus on customer satisfaction to provide reliable and high-quality electricity through their network.
United Energy Future Growth: Environmental Commitment
United Energy is committed to minimizing their impact on the natural environment for the future. United Energy participates in the Australian Greenhouse Challenge Program and adheres to the Electricity Supply Association of Australia’s Code of Environmental Practice.

Key features of the EMS include:
- Oil and chemical spill response

- Electro-magnetic field enquiries

- Noise management
