Dodo Power and Gas is owned by Dodo, a prominent company that specialises in telecommunications, including land lines and mobile phones. Dodo is also an Internet Service Provider that operates in Australia, with its headquarters located in Melbourne, Victoria. Dodo Energy and Gas entered the energy retail market in 2010. This was the first step for the company to fulfill its desire to become a multi-utility company. This means that customers will be able to bundle their gas and electricity with internet and telephone plans for extra discounts on the energy bills.
Dodo Power and Gas is licensed to sell electricity and gas in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland, and the ACT. Dodo Electricity is currently available to residential and business customers in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland. Dodo Gas is available in Victoria and New South Wales.
Dodo Power and Gas offer Pay on Time discounts, have no lock-in contracts, and flexible billing options. Dodo will bill customers by calculating the estimated cost of each quarterly electricity bill. Customers will be charged this amount on a weekly, fortnightly, or monthly instalment basis, which is processed either through a credit card or debited from a bank account.
Every three months, customers will be charged for their actual electricity usage based on an electricity meter reading. If usage was over the estimated monthly instalments, the difference will be deducted from the next electricity bill.
Origin Energy is committed to reducing the impact that energy production has on the environment. Customers have access to a range of different environmentally friendly and energy efficient options. Origin’s energy plans come with the option to offset greenhouse emissions, and a choice of sourcing between 25% to 100% of electricity usage from renewable sources. Origin Energy also has a Green Gas option starting from as little as $1 a week, which will offset green house gas emissions from natural gas usage, find out more about both green power options here.
Origin has a range of different pricing structures depending on which state and which distribution network you are on. Their plans include the Origin Maximiser, Origin Saver and thier Low Rate Plan. Customers can also bundle their electricity and gas. Discounts are available for paying via direct debit or using their eBilling facilities. All Origin Energy residential plans come with no exit fees or lock in contracts.
The Origin call centre operates from 7am to 9pm weekdays and Saturdays 9am to 5pm. Online energy experts are available via chat Monday to Friday, 7 am to 7 pm. Origin Energy also offers plans for business customers.
